Whitford – Geelong Property News: On Tuesday, the RBA reduced the official cash rate from 4.10% to 3.85%, marking the second rate cut this year. This move aims to support economic stability while keeping inflation within target. Major banks, including NAB, ANZ, Commonwealth Bank, and Westpac, have announced they will pass on the full 0.25% reduction to mortgage holders, with most cuts effective from May 30. 

Geelong's property market is showing signs of recovery, particularly in affordable suburbs with average prices around $750,000. Industry experts predict increased buyer activity in these areas in the latter half of 2025. The rate cut enhances borrowing capacity, potentially increasing buyer interest in Geelong's middle-market properties. 

However, affordability remains a concern, with 60% of Australian mortgage holders still facing financial strain despite the recent rate cuts. While the rate cut may provide short-term relief, property prices are expected to rise by the end of the year, according to SQM Research. Prospective buyers should act promptly to capitalize on current market conditions.
